We wanted to bring to your attention a matter of utmost importance regarding the safety of our players. Recent events have highlighted the critical need for neck guards in this sport, as demonstrated by the tragic passing of former NHL player Adam Johnson.
We see way too often neck guards being improperly worn and/or falling off and on to the ice. Neck guards are designed to protect players from various injuries, including lacerations and potentially life-threatening injuries to the neck and throat. When a player falls or is involved in a collision, the risk of impact to the neck is ever-present. This risk is magnified in minor hockey, where players are still developing their skills, and the potential for accidents is higher.
PLEASE ensure that your players are wearing their neck guards properly, the velcro is in good condition and provides proper throat coverage!
